Xiaolan Wang is the founder of the More Design Studio. She is working as an Assistant Professor in the School of Art & Design, Guangdong University of Technology in China. Her research focuses on More-than-Human Design, Speculative Design, Experience Design and Social Innovation Design. She is the translator of the Chinese version of Design Noir: The Secret Life of Electronic Objects (Dunne & Raby, 2001) and Things We Could Design for More Than Human-Centered Worlds (Ron Wakkary, 2021). She has also published a design textbook titled Methods of Experience Design under the Healthy China Strategy (2024). Xiaolan holds a B.Eng in Software Engineering and M.Eng in Computer Applied Technology from Shandong University, China, and a PhD in Interactive Arts and Technology from Simon Fraser University, Canada.

I am Lin Yuyao, an interdisciplinary designer with a background in landscape architecture. I am currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Innovation Design Engineering (IDE) at Imperial College London and the Royal College of Art. My research focuses on natural environments and more-than-human design, exploring how design can foster symbiotic relationships between humans and non-human life forms.
In my design practice, I integrate systems thinking, technological innovation, and narrative methods to break traditional disciplinary boundaries and engage with design in a more dynamic and ecologically driven way. I believe that design is not only a tool for shaping physical environments but also a medium for cultivating new relationships between humans and nature.
